"W pewnej miejscowości La Manchy, którego nazwy nie mam ochoty sobie przypominać.." – tymi słowami zaczyna się pierwsza w dziejach Europy powieść. „W pewnym miejscu”, czyli właściwie gdzie? Od dekad wiele miejscowości w tym regionie Hiszpanii pretenduje do bycia „tym miejscem”. Szymon Uliasz (reżyser) i Magdalena Barbaruk (scenarzystka) postanowili to wyjaśnić, czego efektem jest film Błędne mapy.
Film można odczytywać jako próbę powtórzenia słynnej podróży literackiej zrealizowanej w trzechsetlecie powieści Cervantesa (1905) przez Azorína, która wciąż jest matrycą wędrowania po La Manchy w poszukiwaniu Don Kichota. Za stolicę nowej „Trasy Don Kichota”, która powstała z okazji czterechsetlecia powieści (2005) uznać można prowincję Ciudad Real, gdzie do 2012 roku zapowiadano utworzenie „Królestwa Don Kichota” i zbudowano lotnisko „Don Kichota”. La Mancha z miejsca tranzytowego miała stać się regionem docelowym setek tysięcy turystów. W obliczu idei budowy gigantycznego parku tematycznego opartego na figurze błędnego rycerza spór o to gdzie leży prawdziwe un lugar de la Mancha nabrał nowego sensu. Podróż do „Królestwa Don Kichota” stanowi codę filmu i dopełnia refleksję nad przemianami krajobrazu La Manchy: ich trwaniem i ginięciem.

‘In a certain village of La Mancha, whose name I do not care to recall...’ - with these words the first ever European novel begins. ‘In a certain place’, meaning actually where? For decades, many towns and cities in this region of Spain have pretended to be ‘the place’. Szymon Uliasz (director) and Magdalena Barbaruk (scriptwriter) decided to clarify this, resulting in the film 'incorect Maps'.
The film can be read as an attempt to repeat the famous literary journey made on the tricentenary of Cervantes' novel (1905) by Azorín, which is still the matrix of wandering through La Mancha in search of Don Quixote. The province of Ciudad Real, where the creation of the ‘Kingdom of Don Quixote’ was announced by 2012 and the ‘Don Quixote’ airport was built, can be considered the capital of the new ‘Don Quixote Route’, which was created to mark the four-hundredth anniversary of the novel (2005). La Mancha was to go from being a transit destination to becoming a destination region for hundreds of thousands of tourists. Faced with the idea of building a giant theme park based on the figure of the erroneous knight, the dispute over where the real un lugar de la Mancha lies took on new meaning. The journey to the ‘Kingdom of Don Quixote’ forms the coda of the film and completes the reflection on the transformations of the landscape of La Mancha: their persistence and disappearance.
